“It all began with two colleagues, a shared Google Doc and an idea to create something tangible to offer to the attendees of a local study club. Who knew this would develop into something so much bigger! Initially, when Cory and I discussed pouring our combined expertise into a resource for practices that we were coaching, we only envisioned designing a “workbook;” an adjunct tool to a presentation Cory was giving that summer. To set the tone for this story; presently, we were two months into opening our second practice location, doubling our team, and I had lost my mother to a battle cancer a month prior. Seems like the ideal time to write a book, right?

Even now, several of our important projects include spewing ideas into a shared Google Doc; most of which are discernable only to the author in it’s raw format. What was originally ideas, quickly developed into sections, and finally expanded into chapters. We spent several sleepless nights in our home offices pouring decades of knowledge into disorganized paragraphs, often colliding with our trains of thought. During the final editing process, admittedly, I could not tell you who penned out which sections. Twenty eight days, half a dozen late nights, way too much coffee and one hundred & twenty pages later, we accidentally wrote a book!

Fast forward to the present; we are still on our Dental Dream Team journey along with you. Although developing our dental dream team at Shoreline is priority #1, seeing the impact our book has had on practices across the nation has been an honor. Cory Ritzau serves as Chief Executive Officer of Shoreline Dental Studio. Together with his wife, Dr. Kristen Ritzau, they launched the company in 2011 de novo; Shoreline has quickly grown to earn accolades such as the Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest Growing Companies and Best Places to Work in Orange County by the OC Business Journal for three consecutive years. They’ve also been named the Best Dental Office in San Clemente by the San Clemente Times and San Clemente Lifestyle Magazine. Over the past decade, Cory has worn several administrative hats since founding the company and he is passionate about coaching practice owners to implement best practices. He and his wife have two small children and he enjoys golf, surfing, and snowboarding in his spare time.
